Valentine’s Day is all about romance, so Broadway.com decided to collect romantic stories (and ideas for celebrating the national day of love) from some of the most passionate people we know: Broadway stars! Read on for memories, menus and much more.
TONY SHELDON (Bernadette in Priscilla Queen of the Desert)
Tell us the perfect menu for a romantic Valentine's Day dinner.
Everything should be heart shaped: rose petal soup in heart shaped bowls, champagne in heart shaped goblets, heart shaped lobster ravioli, hearts of artichoke, heart shaped filet mignon, heart shaped chocolates. Then you'll be so exhausted from shaping all those hearts you should both go out for pizza.
What Broadway song would you use for a Valentine's Day serenade?
My beloved partner of 32 years has one particular favorite: Jerome Kern's "All The Things You Are" from Very Warm for May. I'd croon it through a heart shaped megaphone.
If you could spend Valentine's Day with any celebrity, who would you choose and why?
I would spend the day with Will Swenson and Nick Adams from Priscilla because I can't bear to be apart from them for a single solitary minute. Mind you, if Gavin Creel suddenly appeared on my doorstep with flowers and candy I'd have to rethink the situation.
